CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Clinical Psychology

The man given less was not asked to match the man given more. He was asked to work with what sat in his own hands. Comparison paralyzes the person who measures his lot against a larger one and quits before he starts. He refused that trap and doubled what he held.

The reward matched the greater servant. The endowment's size was never the point. What counts is the ratio between the gift and what a man does with it. A small store, fully engaged, weighs as much as a large one. Faithfulness scales to whatever you are holding.

  1. When you open your phone and see what someone else has pulled off, give it ten seconds and then put it down and work on your own smaller thing. The scroll is mostly a machine for making your portion look thin.
  2. Tell someone honestly about a limit you have, less time, less money, less experience, instead of pretending to the same footing as everyone else. The honesty usually opens the conversation rather than closing it.
  3. In a room where other people clearly have more leverage than you, contribute the thing you actually have rather than staying quiet because it is small. A modest contribution fully given carries real weight.

Am I refusing to use what I have because it is not what someone else was given?

Bhagavad Gita 3

Better your own work done imperfectly than someone else's done well. The life that is actually yours is the only one you can do anything with.

Tao Te Ching 33

Knowing others is intelligence, knowing yourself is clarity. Measure against what you were given and the comparisons that paralyze people lose their grip.
