Matthew 26:64 Meaning Jesus Said to Him

Jesus said to him, “You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of the sky.”

What does Matthew 26:64 mean?

The Son of man is the awakened human principle within, the higher self raised in a person out of ordinary manhood into its full stature. To sit on the right hand of power is to be established in the place of authority within the inner order, the awakened self seated beside the ruling force of being rather than beneath it.

The Son of man is the awakened human principle within, the higher self raised in a person out of ordinary manhood into its full stature. To sit on the right hand of power is to be established in the place of authority within the inner order, the awakened self seated beside the ruling force of being rather than beneath it. Coming in the clouds of heaven is the appearing of that self through the veiling vapors of the mind, the higher consciousness breaking into view partly hidden by the mists of thought that surround it. Hereafter names the state to come in a person, the condition reached once the inner man has risen.

What is foretold is the rising of the true self to its seat of power, seen at last through the clouding thoughts that until now kept it out of sight.

Son of man: the awakened human principle, the higher self raised in a person to its full stature Right hand of power: the seat of authority within the inner order, the place beside the ruling force of being Clouds: the veiling vapors of the mind, the mists of thought through which the higher self appears Heaven: the upper region of consciousness where the risen self takes its seat

Live Matthew 26:64 today

  1. On your commute, let a few minutes go by without the earbuds or the feed, and watch your thoughts arrive and leave without chasing any of them. Something in you is doing the watching, and that is the part worth knowing.
  2. When a family dinner or a friend's story turns dull and your mind drifts off, come back and stay present with them for one more minute. The one who can choose to return is already more than the mood you were drifting in.
  3. In the worst stretch of a stressful day, when your head is a fog of worry, say to yourself "this is weather, not me." Then do the next small thing, slowly and on purpose, and let the fog move.

When my thoughts are loudest, what in me is still quietly watching them?

Chandogya Upanishad

The deepest thing in you and the ground of everything are not two things. What you are looking for is already seated where you are looking from.

Zen

Clouds pass across the sky and never change it, and your thoughts pass across awareness in exactly the same way. The sky was there the whole time, only hidden.

Sufism · Rumi

There is a self in you waiting under the one you keep showing people. Your thoughts are the veil, and it thins as you stop mistaking them for you.
