Matthew 27:43 Meaning He Trusts in God

He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’

What does Matthew 27:43 mean?

This is the ego's oldest taunt, the demand that love prove itself on the body's terms. A mind convinced of separation cannot conceive of a rescue that leaves the flesh untouched, so it jeers at the one who does not defend himself and reads his stillness as abandonment.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

This is the ego's oldest taunt, the demand that love prove itself on the body's terms. A mind convinced of separation cannot conceive of a rescue that leaves the flesh untouched, so it jeers at the one who does not defend himself and reads his stillness as abandonment. What it calls proof is really the wish to see innocence broken, for guilt is soothed when it can point to a strength that failed.

Yet the trust being mocked asks nothing of deliverance in time. The Son of God is safe where the ego cannot look, in the changeless fact of what he is. A mind that stops asking the world to save the body begins to feel the only rescue there ever was.

Mockers: the ego's voice in the mind, the part that insists love must appear as bodily rescue or be counted false. The cross: the belief that innocence can be harmed, the appearance the ego offers as evidence against God.

Live Matthew 27:43 today

  1. Say the thing you have been begging for, then set it down for an hour and live the hour anyway. See whether you were actually missing anything.
  2. When someone tells you your calm means you do not care, let them be wrong about you. You are not required to prove your feelings.
  3. In the middle of a day going badly, stop asking it to change and do the next honest task. The ground is steadier than the wanting.

What are you waiting to be given before you let yourself be at peace?

Stop asking the world for the rescue you are already inside of. The seeking is the last thing standing between you and it.

Stoicism · Epictetus

Ask not that things happen as you wish, but wish them as they are, and your life will go smoothly. The request itself was the unrest.
