Matthew 28:10 Meaning Then Jesus Said to Them

Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Go tell my brothers that they should go into Galilee, and there they will see me.”

What does Matthew 28:10 mean?

Love's correction never begins with a demand; it begins by dissolving the fear that would distort whatever came next. Only a mind at peace can carry a message truly, so the fear is lifted first, and then the sending follows as naturally as breath.

Love's correction never begins with a demand; it begins by dissolving the fear that would distort whatever came next. Only a mind at peace can carry a message truly, so the fear is lifted first, and then the sending follows as naturally as breath. The two go together, calm and commission, one making room for the other.

And those to be told are called brothers, which quietly undoes the separation the whole ordeal seemed to prove. A mind that hears itself named part of one family stops treating others as strangers or threats and goes to find them in the common ground of ordinary life, sure it will see love there.

Brethren: the other minds seen at last as one with the seeker, the shared identity that fear had hidden behind the appearance of separate strangers. Galilee: the plain country of daily life, the ordinary place where reunion is kept and love is actually met.

The sending into Galilee is the direction of the awakened powers back down into the lower, everyday region of a person where the risen self is actually met, for Galilee is the circuit of the ordinary life, the humble outer round of the senses and the daily body rather than the high seat of the head. The risen awareness is seen there and not only on the summit, because the transformed self shows itself precisely in the plain lower ground once it has passed through death and been raised.

Be not afraid is the stilling of the lower agitation that trembles before so great an inner change, the calming of the nerves so the faculties can move where they are sent. The brethren are the kindred powers within, the family of faculties told to return to the common region and there behold the awakened center living among them. The whole movement is the higher life descending to be found in the low places of a person, not withdrawn above them.

Live Matthew 28:10 today

  1. Before you reply to the message that spiked your heart rate, put the phone down and breathe until your chest settles. Write only from the calmer version of yourself, because the anxious draft always says more than you mean.
  2. Pick the one person you have quietly filed as difficult, a coworker, a relative, a name in the group chat, and treat them for one day as family you have not fallen out with. Ask them something real and let the answer be longer than you expected.
  3. In the grocery line or the slow left lane, when strangers start to feel like obstacles, remind yourself that every one of them is in the middle of something hard. Let your face soften before your mouth opens.

Who have you been treating as a stranger who was never actually one?

Still water reflects clearly, while troubled water shows nothing true. Peace is not a reward after the work, it is the condition that lets the work be done honestly.

He reminded himself each morning that the people he would deal with were his own kin, made for cooperation, not for his resentment. Seeing them as family is what makes the day workable.

The teaching on loving kindness begins by settling the heart, then widens the same warmth outward until no one is left outside it. The calm comes first, then the reaching out follows on its own.
