Matthew 28:18 Meaning Jesus Came to Them and Spoke

Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

What does Matthew 28:18 mean?

The awakened teacher within speaks not to boast of a private authority but to remind the mind of a power it has been giving away. All strength belongs to love, and love withholds nothing from the mind that has chosen it, so a mind joined to that teacher finds that nothing in earth or in the deepest reaches of itself lies outside its reach.

Fear had seemed to rule, but fear rules only where it is believed, and here belief has turned.

What is given in heaven and in earth is given at once, for the mind that has healed within finds the outer world already answered. A mind stops bargaining for scraps of control when it remembers that the whole of its strength was never lost, only handed to the wrong teacher.

Heaven: the mind at peace with itself, the inner ground where love is unopposed Earth: the mind's outer projection, the world of form that answers to whatever teacher the mind has chosen within

Heaven and earth are the 2 realms of a single person, the upper mind and the lower body, spirit above and flesh below, and all authority over both is gathered into the risen self at the center. This is the state after the inner death and rising, when consciousness has claimed dominion over the whole temple, ruling the thoughts of the head and the appetites of the ground alike. Nothing in the person stands outside this authority, for the awakened I now holds the reins of both worlds it lives between. The power is not granted from far away; it is the natural sovereignty a person comes into once the higher self has risen and taken its throne within.

Once the inner self has risen, it holds command over both halves of a person, the spirit above and the body below, with nothing left outside its rule.

Heaven: the upper realm of a person, the mind and spirit in the head Earth: the lower realm of a person, the body and its appetites, the ground the self must also govern

Live Matthew 28:18 today

  1. Name the thing you have decided you cannot handle, the conversation, the bill, the appointment, and take one small real step on it today. Most of its power was in your agreement that it had power.
  2. When someone's mood starts running your evening, pause before you reorganize yourself around it. You can care about them without handing them the controls.
  3. In the meeting where you usually shrink and hedge, say your actual view once, plainly, without the softening preamble. You are not borrowing authority, you are stopping the giveaway.

Where have you been asking for scraps of control over something that was already yours?
