Matthew 28:7 Meaning Go Quickly and Tell His Disciples

Go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has risen from the dead, and behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him.’ Behold, I have told you.

What does Matthew 28:7 mean?

Once the mind has heard that death held nothing, it is not left to sit with the news; it is sent. Healing wants to be carried, and the quickness asked for is simply the eagerness of a mind that no longer has a reason to linger by a grave.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Once the mind has heard that death held nothing, it is not left to sit with the news; it is sent. Healing wants to be carried, and the quickness asked for is simply the eagerness of a mind that no longer has a reason to linger by a grave. What it received freely it can only keep by giving.

And the one it seeks has gone ahead, already waiting in the ordinary country of daily life where it will actually be met. A mind learns here that love is not found by looking backward at what was lost but by walking forward into the plain places, where the risen truth has arrived before it.

Galilee: the familiar ground of everyday living, the ordinary world where the mind meets the truth it thought belonged only to a holier scene.

Live Matthew 28:7 today

  1. Something good you understood this week, write it to one person in two sentences before the day ends. Not a lesson, just the thing you saw, sent plainly.
  2. When you get real relief or good news, pass it on the same hour instead of sitting on it. A quick text to the one friend who needs it most does more than a long post later.
  3. On your commute or in line at the store, stop scanning for the better version of your life and look at the one in front of you. Whatever peace you want is meant to show up here, with these people, in this traffic.

What have you been holding on to that only stays yours if you give it away?

The same truth in other traditions

Zen

After the deepest insight, the instruction is still chop wood and carry water. Whatever you woke up to is waiting for you in the most ordinary part of your day, not in some better room.

Buddhism

The bodhisattva vow turns realization outward at once: what is understood is not kept, it is carried to others. Holding it alone is the one way to lose it.

Tao Te Ching

The great way is plain and near, yet people hunt for it in distant and elaborate places. What you are looking for has gone ahead of you into the simple ground under your feet.
