Ego v. Being

Looking back across the wilderness years, the people saw that they had been carried all along. Bread came each morning, water rose from the rock, and an inner guidance moved through them even when they could not see the way. What had seemed like their own struggle was quietly held by something larger.

This is how life sustains you now, in the very moment you are living. The mind fixates on what is missing and misses the fact that this instant already provides what this instant requires. When you receive the present as it comes, rather than straining toward a future you fear will fail you, you discover you have never once been abandoned.

Live Nehemiah 9:20 today

  1. At your next meal, put the phone face down somewhere else in the room and just eat. Most of us have never actually tasted lunch.
  2. Tell one person something you are grateful they did, specifically, out loud. Not a general thank you, the actual thing.
  3. When money or time feels tight and your mind starts running worst cases, pull it back to this week: is there food, is there a bed, is there someone who would pick up the phone. Answer that, then keep going.

What showed up today that you were too busy worrying to receive?
