ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The vow of separation closes and the disciplined energy long held apart is now released back into ordinary life. The priest is the governing faculty within a person that lifts and consecrates what the being has offered. The wave breast is the seat of feeling raised toward the source, and the heave shoulder is the strength of the will lifted up, both given over before the inner Lord. When the offering is complete the Nazarite may drink wine again, meaning the one who kept himself apart may now take back the flow of vital force he had renounced. The season of holding back ends, and the gathered power is returned to the body to be used rather than restrained.

Priest: the governing faculty within a person that lifts and consecrates what the being offers Wave breast: the seat of feeling raised toward the source, the heart lifted in offering Heave shoulder: the strength of the will lifted up and given over to the inner Lord Wine: the flow of vital force in the body, renounced during the vow and now taken back

Live Numbers 6:20 today

  1. If you have been off something on purpose, sugar, drinking, scrolling, a whole app, pick the end date and actually end it. Going back in on purpose, with your eyes open, is part of the discipline, not a failure of it.
  2. Take one thing you held back during a hard stretch, your energy, your attention, your warmth, and spend it on one person today. Make the long call, cook the real dinner, sit through the whole conversation without your phone in reach.
  3. When the pressure is on at work, resist the urge to stay clenched after the deadline passes. Let your shoulders drop, let the held breath out, and put that recovered energy into the next thing rather than guarding it.

What have I been holding back so long that I forgot it was meant to be given away?

Tao Te Ching

The sage gathers and then gives away, and is never emptied. Power held too long stops being power, so the stored energy is spent back into ordinary living.

Zen

After awakening, chop wood and carry water. The retreat ends, the robe comes off, and the thing you found in the quiet is proven in the kitchen.
