Proverbs 1:13 Meaning We’ll Find All Valuable Wealth

We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with plunder.

What does Proverbs 1:13 mean?

The promise of precious substance and houses stuffed with spoil is the ego's whole economy in one breath: value is out there, scarce, and taken from someone who loses when you gain. A mind under this teaching believes it is a container to be filled from outside, and so it is always short, always reaching, treating others as sources to be emptied.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The promise of precious substance and houses stuffed with spoil is the ego's whole economy in one breath: value is out there, scarce, and taken from someone who loses when you gain. A mind under this teaching believes it is a container to be filled from outside, and so it is always short, always reaching, treating others as sources to be emptied.

Yet the treasure a mind actually wants was never a thing and cannot be stored. It is the peace of knowing it lacks nothing, and that peace is undone the instant it is pursued as plunder. The house here is the self, and it grows rich not by what it seizes but by what it stops defending against.

Precious substance: the worth the mind imagines lives outside it and must be won, when what it seeks is the wholeness it already carries. Houses: the self as the ego pictures it, an empty vessel to be filled with spoil, never satisfied because the emptiness was imagined.

  1. Before you buy the thing in your cart tonight, ask what feeling you expect it to deliver. Sit with that feeling for a minute first and see if the cart still looks the same.
  2. When someone you know gets the news you wanted, the job, the house, the baby, send the message you would want to get. Their gain was never coming out of your account.
  3. In a meeting where credit is being handed out, say someone else's name out loud. There is more of it than the room thinks.

What do I keep reaching for that I would stop wanting if I felt whole?
