CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

A mind can treat the truth as worth nothing, and this is the whole strategy of fear. Guidance is rejected not because it fails but because it works too well, dissolving the grievances the ego stores as its treasure. To set correction at nought is to protect the wound, to prefer the story of being wronged over the peace that would end the story. The refusal is deliberate, made again in each moment against the very thing that would heal.

What is pushed aside loses none of its worth. It waits, whole and unchanged, for the day a mind grows tired of guarding its own pain.

  1. Pick one grievance you have rehearsed more than ten times. Just see how much energy goes into keeping it in good condition.
  2. When someone offers a read on your situation that you do not want to hear, do not shut it down. Say, say more. You can disagree later with better information.
  3. Next time you catch yourself retelling the same story about a difficult person, stop halfway through and change the subject. You will feel the pull to finish it. That pull is the whole thing.

What good advice have you dismissed because taking it would mean putting down the hurt?
