Proverbs 10:25 Meaning When the Whirlwind Passes

When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the righteous stand firm forever.

What does Proverbs 10:25 mean?

The fearful mind and everything it builds are made of the same passing stuff as a storm, loud while it lasts and gone the moment the wind that drives it falls quiet. Guilt has no substance of its own, so what guilt raises up cannot stand; it was only weather in a dream, and dreams end.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The fearful mind and everything it builds are made of the same passing stuff as a storm, loud while it lasts and gone the moment the wind that drives it falls quiet. Guilt has no substance of its own, so what guilt raises up cannot stand; it was only weather in a dream, and dreams end.

What abides is the mind that has remembered love, because love was true before the storm and remains when the storm forgets itself. This is why one thing scatters and another cannot be moved: only what is real endures, and only love was ever real. The rest simply passes, and takes nothing from you as it goes.

Whirlwind: the brief, driving force of fear that seems overwhelming yet carries no lasting substance. Wicked: the mind built on guilt, dissolving the instant its false foundation is seen through. Foundation: the changeless ground of the mind that rests in love, which nothing external can shake.

  1. The next time a wave of dread or anger arrives, set a timer and do nothing for ten minutes. Watch it rise and fall without acting on it, and let its shortness teach you something.
  2. When someone you love is in a storm of their own, do not argue with the weather. Sit with them, say little, and let it move through.
  3. When a crisis hits at work and everyone starts moving fast, take one slow breath before you join. Most of what feels urgent at 3 p.m. will have no shape by Friday.

What was I certain would destroy me a year ago, and where is it now?

Tao Te Ching 23

A violent wind does not last all morning and a cloudburst does not last all day. Nothing forced sustains itself, and the quiet thing outlasts the loud one.

Buddhism · Impermanence

Buddhist teaching likens feeling to weather moving through an open sky: no cloud has ever stayed, and the sky takes no damage from any of it. What passes was never the ground you stand on.

Bhagavad Gita 2

Krishna says what is real was never born and cannot end, while what is unreal has no existence to defend. Only one of those two needs protecting, and it is the one that was never there.
