CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
In the mind, having and giving are the same act, though the ego swears they are opposites. What a mind extends to another it strengthens in itself, because love is not a quantity that shrinks when shared but a recognition that grows by being offered. The one who clutches, certain that holding back keeps him safe, is teaching himself that he is small and threatened, and this teaching becomes his experience. He grows poor not because anything was taken, but because withholding is the belief in lack made real.
What the mind keeps from others it keeps from itself. What it gives, it discovers it already had.
There is no standing symbol here; the scatterer and the withholder are two postures of the mind, not figures to decode.

SELF-HELP
What a person holds back is the exact size of the future they secretly believe is coming.
A closed hand is obeying a forecast: there will not be enough, so hold. The forecast sets the state, the state sets the posture carried into every deal and every friendship, and a contracted person makes fewer offers, fewer introductions, fewer attempts, until the poverty arrives on schedule and gets read as proof the forecast was accurate all along.
Scattering reverses the chain at its first link. The increase begins in who a person becomes while giving, long before anything shows up in what they own, because generosity practiced repeatedly installs an identity with no pile to defend. Withholding buys a narrower life each year it is practiced, and the bill is paid in the opportunities that quietly stop arriving.
Christian Psychology lens
Where am I holding something back, and what is the holding teaching me about myself?
The sage gives and so has everything. Grasping makes the hands small, and holding on is what finally loses it.
Generosity is the first practice, not because the other needs it but because the giver is loosened by it. Each open hand teaches the mind it is not in danger.
Who is rich? The one who is content with what is in front of them. Lack is a posture before it is a situation.
