Proverbs 12:27 Meaning The Slothful Man Doesn’t Roast His Game

The slothful man doesn’t roast his game, but the possessions of diligent men are prized.

What does Proverbs 12:27 mean?

It is one thing for grace to be given and another for a mind to receive it. A mind may be handed every reason for peace and still let it lie untouched, never bringing the gift to use, and so it starves beside its own provision.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

It is one thing for grace to be given and another for a mind to receive it. A mind may be handed every reason for peace and still let it lie untouched, never bringing the gift to use, and so it starves beside its own provision. This is the deeper idleness: not the failure to seek, but the failure to accept what seeking has already placed within reach.

The mind that treats its true thoughts as precious tends them, returns to them, lets them nourish it. What was given becomes real to it because it was welcomed and lived. The difference is not in what the two minds possess, for love offers itself equally to both, but in whether the offering is taken in.

Man: the mind considered in its willingness or refusal to receive what love has already given Substance: the true thoughts a mind holds, the gifts of peace made real when they are welcomed and lived rather than left untouched

The lazy man will summon the effort to chase the deer down, then leave the carcass rotting in the field because finishing costs more than he wants to pay. Beginnings are cheap. Almost anyone can lunge at a goal in a burst of enthusiasm, but the value hides in the tedious last stretch that turns a catch into a meal.

Diligence means completing what you started after the thrill has drained away, and that unglamorous follow-through is what quietly makes a life worth something. Finish the hunt. What you carry all the way home is what feeds you.

Live Proverbs 12:27 today

  1. Take the one piece of advice you already know is right, the thing you have saved, bookmarked, screenshot, and do the smallest version of it today. Then delete the bookmark.
  2. Ask the person who already offered to help for the help. You have been treating the offer as the gift instead of taking it.
  3. When you have a free fifteen minutes between tasks, do not fill it with scrolling for more ideas. Use it on the one you already have.

What good thing has already been handed to me that I have not picked up?
