Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard.

What does Proverbs 13:15 mean?

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Two teachers offer two roads, and the mind that lets love instruct it walks lightly, welcomed wherever it goes because it carries no accusation and so meets none. It finds the world friendly for the simple reason that it has stopped condemning what it looks upon.

The hard road belongs to the mind that keeps its grievances. Every step meets resistance, yet the stones underfoot are its own guilt laid down ahead of it. Set the guilt down and the road grows soft, for the hardness was never in the world but in a mind that sees an enemy where a brother stands.

Way: the road the mind walks, the path of experience that feels smooth or hard depending on which teacher it has chosen to follow.

Live Proverbs 13:15 today

  1. Pick one person you have quietly filed as difficult and drop the label for the day. Deal with whoever actually shows up instead of the version in your head.
  2. Ask one ordinary person, the barista, a coworker, the neighbor, something real and listen to the whole answer. The friendliness of your day usually starts on your side.
  3. When traffic or a slow checkout line or a delayed reply starts the irritation rising, let it be just an inconvenience instead of a personal slight. Nobody is doing this to you.

How much of today's hardness am I laying down in front of myself?

What you look at and how you look at it decide the quality of your day. Judge everything harshly and you will live in a harsh world.

Buddhism · Dhammapada

Hatred is never ended by hatred. Carrying the grievance is the weight, not the thing that caused it.

The wise meet both the honest and the dishonest with the same good faith. Offering no accusation, they find little to fight.
