CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

There is a light in the mind that is not lit and cannot be spent, the awareness of love that shines simply because it is what the mind truly is. That light rejoices, needing no fuel and fearing no dark. The ego offers a lamp instead, a small borrowed flame fed by the belief in separation, and because it was never the mind's own light it flickers and goes out. What ends was only the counterfeit.

The true light was never in danger. What the mind is cannot be extinguished; only the substitute for it can fail.

Light of the righteous: the mind's own awareness of love, unlit and unfailing, shining because it is the mind's nature. Lamp of the wicked: the ego's borrowed flame, fed by the belief in separation, which flickers out because it was never real.

SUFISM

Sufism

Two lights stand side by side, one that keeps shining and one that goes dark, and the difference is where each draws its fuel. The wicked person's lamp burns on borrowed things, reputation and gain and applause, and when those run out the flame gutters, since a heart lit only by itself has nothing left once the self is spent.

The cure is to be fed from a steady source, letting sincerity done in secret keep the wick alive. God is the true fire behind the righteous glow, the one flame that needs no crowd to keep burning, so it does not go out.

Live Proverbs 13:9 today

  1. When the feed leaves you feeling thin and borrowed today, close it and sit still for one minute. What is left when the scroll stops was never coming from the scroll.
  2. Tell one person something good you see in them that has nothing to do with what they produce. Point at the light, not the output.
  3. On a day when the praise does not come and the numbers are flat, do the work anyway and do it well. Your worth was not lit by applause, so it cannot be put out by silence.

What have I been running on lately, something I keep having to refuel, or something that was already there?

The moon does not get brighter when the clouds clear. Your own nature was never dim, it was only covered for a while.

Bhagavad Gita 13

There is a light that does not flicker, the same in every creature. Lamps burn down, that light does not.
