Proverbs 15:32 Meaning He Who Refuses Correction Despises His Own
He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.

Proverbs 15:32 · World English Bible
He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.
To turn away from correction looks like protecting oneself, yet it is the mind attacking its own worth, guarding the small self that fear built and calling the guard love. What is refused is not a rebuke but a door out of the dream, and to bolt that door is to choose to keep hurting.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
To turn away from correction looks like protecting oneself, yet it is the mind attacking its own worth, guarding the small self that fear built and calling the guard love. What is refused is not a rebuke but a door out of the dream, and to bolt that door is to choose to keep hurting.
The mind that lets the reproof reach it loses nothing real and gains sight. Understanding is not new information but the willingness to see the error as an error, so it can be set down. Every honest hearing is a step from fear toward the teacher who was always waiting to be heard.

CYBERNETICS
A man who shuts out every correction is quietly working against himself, because he cuts off the signals his own success mechanism needs to steer. Refusing the feedback is not protecting the self-image; it starves it. He wounds the self he guards.
The one who takes the reproof grows clearer instead. Each honest word becomes course data, and the mental picture sharpens toward the target. When a person hears correction without reading it as a blow to his worth, understanding gathers in him and the way forward comes into focus.
Christian Psychology lens
Where am I guarding something that is actually hurting me?
You cannot pour tea into a cup that is already full. The admission that you do not yet know is the emptying that makes learning possible.
If anyone can show me I am mistaken, I will gladly change, for I seek the truth and no one is ever harmed by it. Only persisting in the error does the harm.
The false self clings to being right and is bound by that clinging. Seeing clearly is what loosens the rope.
