Proverbs 19:24 Meaning The Sluggard Buries His Hand
The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

Proverbs 19:24 · World English Bible
The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
The sluggishness described is not laziness of the body but the mind's refusal to extend itself. The hand that could reach out is folded back against the chest, and so the very act that would nourish the one who withholds is left undone.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The sluggishness described is not laziness of the body but the mind's refusal to extend itself. The hand that could reach out is folded back against the chest, and so the very act that would nourish the one who withholds is left undone. What a mind keeps from giving, it keeps from receiving, for love is known only as it is extended.
A mind convinced it must hoard to be safe starves in the middle of plenty. The correction asks nothing large, only that the closed hand open, that the mind let its love move outward again and discover that giving and having were never two things.
Hand: the mind's power to extend, the reaching-out by which love is shared and so made real. Bosom: the closed inward place where the fearful mind hides its gifts and keeps its love from moving.
Christian Psychology lens
What am I holding closed that I could simply open today?
The sage gives and is not depleted, because giving is how the stream stays a stream. What is held back stagnates.
Generosity is placed first among the practices, not because the other person needs it most, but because the open hand is what loosens the grip of the one giving.
Love is known only when it moves. A closed heart can hold nothing, like a cup turned upside down in the rain.
