A mind convinced of its own emptiness projects that verdict outward and then watches everyone withdraw, sure it is despised because it has already despised itself. It runs after the departing figures with pleading words, but they are wanting, for they were only its own belief in lack wearing the faces of others.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
A mind convinced of its own emptiness projects that verdict outward and then watches everyone withdraw, sure it is despised because it has already despised itself. It runs after the departing figures with pleading words, but they are wanting, for they were only its own belief in lack wearing the faces of others. The abandonment it fears it is quietly arranging, so that the world will confirm what guilt already decided.
No pursuit can recover a love the mind has hidden from itself. When it stops chasing and lays down the sentence of poverty, the brothers who seemed to flee were figures in that dream, and the self it called forsaken was whole all along.
Brethren: the near ones the mind casts as its accusers, kin turned into evidence of the rejection guilt expects Friends: the closer bonds the ego watches for signs of desertion, companions become mirrors of the mind's own belief in its lack
