Proverbs 2:1 Meaning My Son
My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you,

Proverbs 2:1 · World English Bible
My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you,
The whole change turns on willingness. Love does not force its way into a mind; it waits to be received, and the receiving is a choice made quietly and again and again.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The whole change turns on willingness. Love does not force its way into a mind; it waits to be received, and the receiving is a choice made quietly and again and again. To take in these words is to let a gentler teacher begin to speak where the ego spoke before.
To hide them within is not to conceal them but to keep them close, to treasure the correction until it becomes the mind's own thought rather than a rule imposed from without. What is held this near stops being instruction and becomes who the mind is. The turning begins the moment a mind agrees to listen.
Son: the part of a mind that can still be taught, the learner willing to be led from fear toward love. Commandments: the truths of love given to be treasured within, kept close until they become the mind's own voice.
Christian Psychology lens
What have I agreed with for years without ever letting it become mine?
To receive the teaching, be an empty cup. A cup already full of its own opinions has no room, however good the tea.
Make the words your own by turning them over and over. What is only recited stays outside you; what is lived becomes you.
Keep the lamp close and the whole room changes. Truth held at arm's length lights nothing.
