CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

There is a choice between two kinds of worth, and a mind decides at every moment which it will treasure. Riches stand for the ego's proof, the gathered evidence that one is safe by being separate and supplied. But such wealth can be lost, and a mind that leans on it stays afraid, guarding what it fears to lose.

The good name and loving favor are worth of another order: they are what a mind is when it chooses love, and love cannot be stored or stolen. To value being kind above being rich is to learn that identity is not owned but given, and what is given in love returns whole.

Riches, silver and gold: the ego's proof of worth by possession, the gathered defenses that can be lost. Good name: the self a mind wears when it chooses love, a worth that cannot be taken because it was never owned.

CYBERNETICS

Cybernetics

A good name is the picture other people carry of a man, and more than that, it is the picture he carries of himself. That inner reputation shapes every choice he makes, while a pile of money leaves the self-image untouched. A wealthy person who thinks poorly of himself still lives a cramped and anxious life.

Being well regarded, and knowing it, feeds the success mechanism the way nothing bought can. Silver runs out. The warm sense of standing well among others, once it settles into how a person sees himself, keeps steering him toward the kind of life that name describes.

Live Proverbs 22:1 today

  1. Look at one purchase you have been planning and ask whether you want the thing or want to be seen having it. Either answer is fine to know honestly.
  2. Do one quiet kindness today that cannot be posted about: the honest referral, the credit given to a coworker, the message to the person nobody checked on.
  3. When money or status is on the line in a decision this week, ask who you want to be in the story afterward and choose that. The money will come and go either way.

If everything you own were gone tomorrow, what would people still say about you?
