The mind sorts the world into ranks, the ones who have and the ones who lack, and it believes these differences are what is real. Yet the labels are painted on the surface of a single mind that dreamed of separation, and beneath every rank the same self looks out.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The mind sorts the world into ranks, the ones who have and the ones who lack, and it believes these differences are what is real. Yet the labels are painted on the surface of a single mind that dreamed of separation, and beneath every rank the same self looks out. Rich and poor are roles in the dream, not the truth of who anyone is.
To see that one Maker holds them all is to look past the sorting to the shared innocence underneath. A mind that meets another as its equal has begun to forgive the dream of difference, and in that meeting it remembers that what joins them was never divided at all.
The rich and the poor: the ranks the mind assigns in its dream of difference, roles that hide the one self beneath them.

Who did I quietly put beneath me today, and what was I protecting by doing it?
The sage holds no one above and no one below, because the same source flows through all of it. Ranking things is the mind's work, not the way's.
Rich or poor, master or slave, these are costumes handed out for the play. The actor inside is the same, and a wise person never confuses the costume for the one wearing it.
The self in you is the self in the one across from you, one awareness looking out through many faces. Seeing that, there is no one left to rank.
