Proverbs 24:13 Meaning My Son

My son, eat honey, for it is good, the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste;

What does Proverbs 24:13 mean?

There is a sweetness the mind is invited to take in fully, and it is nothing the ego can counterfeit, for the ego's pleasures must be stolen and hidden while this one is simply given. The invitation is to receive what is genuinely good without suspicion, to let a gift be a gift.

There is a sweetness the mind is invited to take in fully, and it is nothing the ego can counterfeit, for the ego's pleasures must be stolen and hidden while this one is simply given. The invitation is to receive what is genuinely good without suspicion, to let a gift be a gift.

A mind still guarded by fear treats every sweetness as a trap or a debt. But love asks the mind to taste and trust, because what comes from love was never taken from anyone, and to receive it freely is already to begin to heal.

Honey: the goodness love offers freely, taken from no one, meant to be received without the fear that turns every gift into a debt

  1. When something good shows up today, a quiet morning, good coffee, a song you love, stay in it for its full length instead of reaching for your phone halfway through.
  2. The next time someone pays you a compliment or offers you help, take it plainly. Say thank you and stop there, with no deflection and no scrambling to even the score.
  3. On a crowded commute or in a long line, let one small pleasant thing reach you, warmth, light, a kid laughing. You do not have to deserve it for it to be yours.

What did I refuse today because taking it felt like owing something?
