Proverbs 24:14 Meaning So You Shall Know Wisdom to Be

so you shall know wisdom to be to your soul. If you have found it, then there will be a reward: Your hope will not be cut off.

What does Proverbs 24:14 mean?

Wisdom is not a store of facts but the mind's direct remembering of what it is, and to the mind it is as nourishing as sweetness to the body. What is found is not new information but a certainty that was always there, waiting beneath the noise of fear.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Wisdom is not a store of facts but the mind's direct remembering of what it is, and to the mind it is as nourishing as sweetness to the body. What is found is not new information but a certainty that was always there, waiting beneath the noise of fear.

The reward is not something added later as payment; it is the natural condition of a mind that has stopped defending its separateness. And the hope that cannot be cut off is simply the truth about the mind, which no dream of loss can finally reach, because what love has established was never in danger of ending.

CYBERNETICS

Cybernetics

Wisdom taken into the soul is not a fact filed away. It settles into the self-image and changes how a person carries himself, the way a skill practiced until it is his own quits feeling like effort. Once it is found and made part of him, a reward waits that the outer world eventually pays.

The last clause names the deeper gift. His expectation shall not be cut off. A mind that has fed on wisdom keeps picturing a good end, and that steady forward-looking picture is the engine of the whole life. Hope, once rooted in the self, is not easily broken.

Live Proverbs 24:14 today

  1. Give yourself ten minutes today with no input, no podcast, no scrolling, no music. Not to achieve anything, just to hear what is underneath the noise.
  2. When someone asks you something real, answer from what you actually know rather than from what sounds smart. The simple answer is usually the true one.
  3. Under pressure, when you feel the urge to grab for reassurance, check your phone, poll a friend, refresh something, stand still for a breath instead. The ground you are looking for is the one you are already on.

What do I already know that I keep going looking for?

You are already what you are searching for. The search is only the long way home.

Hinduism · Chandogya Upanishad

That vast thing you have been looking for is what you are. Nothing was added at the end of the looking.

The way is reached by taking away, not by piling on. What remains when the noise is gone was there the whole time.
