Proverbs 24:21 · World English Bible
My son, fear Yahweh and the king. Don’t join those who are rebellious;
There is a steadiness in the mind that fear cannot reach, and the counsel is to honor it rather than the voices that never rest. To revere what is changeless is simply to trust the one part of the self that stays constant while the ego's moods rise and fall.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
There is a steadiness in the mind that fear cannot reach, and the counsel is to honor it rather than the voices that never rest. To revere what is changeless is simply to trust the one part of the self that stays constant while the ego's moods rise and fall.
To meddle with those given to change is to follow the restless voice that is always overturning, always trading one grievance for another, promising peace in the next rearrangement. A mind finds rest instead by keeping company with the quiet authority within, which needs nothing overthrown because it was never threatened.
The LORD: the changeless truth in the mind, the part that fear cannot reach and does not alter. The king: the rightful authority within, the decision-maker that governs by love rather than by upheaval. Them that are given to change: the ego's restless voices, forever overturning and rearranging, mistaking agitation for progress.
Christian Psychology lens
Which voice in me is just agitation dressed up as progress?
There is something in you that is not born and does not die, untouched by every change passing over it. Steady yourself in that and the rising and falling of moods loses its grip.
Thoughts come and go like clouds across a sky. The sky is not improved by clear weather or damaged by storm, and you are the sky, not the weather.
Some things are in your power and some are not. Peace comes from governing the one place that is actually yours, your own judgment, and leaving the rest alone.
