a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep,

What does Proverbs 24:33 mean?

This is the soft voice by which a mind talks itself out of choosing. Fear rarely announces itself; it asks only for a little sleep, a small postponement, a moment more before attention turns to the thought that needs correcting.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

This is the soft voice by which a mind talks itself out of choosing. Fear rarely announces itself; it asks only for a little sleep, a small postponement, a moment more before attention turns to the thought that needs correcting. Each delay seems harmless, and that is its whole persuasion, for the ego need not make a mind refuse love outright, only keep it setting the decision aside.

The folded hands are the will laid down, the readiness to choose put gently to rest. What the mind calls a brief pause is the slow habit of not deciding, and a lesson unlearned little by little is unlearned all the same.

Folding of the hands: the will laid quietly to rest, the readiness to choose set aside under the guise of harmless rest.

  3. When you reach for your phone to delay something hard, let the reach happen and then set the phone face down and start anyway.

What have I been calling a short pause that has quietly become my answer?
