CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

A mind can be endlessly busy and never once move. It turns and turns upon the same fixed point, mistaking motion for progress, while the hinge of its old belief holds it exactly where it was. Much is stirred and nothing changes, because it will not leave the frame that fear built for it.

The correction is to step off the hinge entirely. A mind that only swings within its habits has not chosen to go anywhere, however much it labors, and repetition is not the same as awakening. What frees it is one real decision to leave the familiar posture, so that motion at last carries it forward instead of back to the place it started.

Door: the mind that moves without going anywhere, turning endlessly on the fixed point of its own habit Hinges: the settled belief the mind swings upon, holding it in place while it imagines it is moving Bed: the comfortable resting in old fear the mind refuses to rise from

  1. Look at what you did yesterday and ask which of it actually moved anything. Busy and unchanged can look identical from the inside.
  2. Have the conversation you have been circling with someone close, the one where you both say the same lines and nothing shifts. Say something you have never said in it.
  3. When you catch yourself refreshing the inbox, reopening the tab, rechecking the same screen under stress, close it and do the one thing you are avoiding for ten minutes.

You can sit on a cushion for twenty years and never once let go. Stillness without willingness is just a comfortable shape.

Stoicism · Seneca

To be everywhere is to be nowhere. Much activity and no direction is not a life in motion, it is a life spinning in place.

Hinduism · Upanishads

The one who turns the wheel of the same desires over and over goes around, not forward. Freedom begins where the turning stops.
