Proverbs 30:23 · World English Bible
for an unloved woman when she is married, and a servant who is heir to her mistress.
A mind steeped in self-hatred still seeks to be joined, and carries its loathing into every union, so the bond becomes a mirror of the guilt it never laid down. What it despises in itself it will find waiting in the one it draws near, for the world only returns the teacher the mind brought to it.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
A mind steeped in self-hatred still seeks to be joined, and carries its loathing into every union, so the bond becomes a mirror of the guilt it never laid down. What it despises in itself it will find waiting in the one it draws near, for the world only returns the teacher the mind brought to it. Nothing is odious in truth. Only the mind that has judged itself unlovable arranges to prove the verdict.
The correction is to see the loathing as a figure in a dream and let it go, so the one who once seemed hateful can be met as innocent. Then the union is no longer an inheritance of guilt but a place where forgiveness is learned.
Odious woman: the part of the mind that has judged itself unlovable and carries that verdict into every joining Handmaid: the lower self that seizes the place of its teacher, guilt taking the inheritance that belonged to love Mistress: the higher part of the mind whose rightful place is usurped when guilt is set in charge
Christian Psychology lens
Am I looking for connection, or looking for proof that I am hard to love?
The practice begins with yourself, not because you deserve it first, but because you cannot hand anyone a kindness you have refused to accept.
The wound is where the light enters. What you despise in yourself is the one place you have not yet let anything in.
What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow. That one line, Hillel said, is the whole of the teaching, and the rest is commentary.
