Proverbs 5:18 · World English Bible
Let your spring be blessed. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.
Before every wandering began there was a first and faithful love within the mind, and the mind is called to return its joy to that companion rather than chase what only glitters. This love is the mind's own innocence, its union with spirit that has never broken however far attention strayed.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
Before every wandering began there was a first and faithful love within the mind, and the mind is called to return its joy to that companion rather than chase what only glitters. This love is the mind's own innocence, its union with spirit that has never broken however far attention strayed. To bless the fountain is to delight in what has always been held rather than mourn what the mind imagines it lacks.
Joy is found in the faithful presence, not the novel one. A mind that turns back to its first love finds it waiting, unchanged and glad.
Fountain: the mind's inner source of love and life, blessed when the mind honors it instead of seeking elsewhere Wife of thy youth: the faithful first love within the mind, its original union with spirit and innocence that was never truly lost, only forgotten
Christian Psychology lens
What have I stopped being glad about simply because it stayed?
Returning to the root is the way back to stillness. What you left is not gone, it is simply waiting for you to come back to it.
The teaching says your original face was never lost, only forgotten. You do not get a new one at the end of the search, you recognize the one you had.
The one who finds delight within, resting in what is already there, is steady where the restless are not. Joy in the familiar outlasts every new thing.
