Proverbs 6:25 Meaning Don’t Lust After Her Beauty
Don’t lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.

Proverbs 6:25 · World English Bible
Don’t lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.
The danger is never in the eyes but in the heart that assigns worth to what it looks upon, for nothing has power over a mind until the mind first desires it. The ego's appeal is beautiful only because a wish has dressed it so, and the wish is made in secret, before any glance is caught.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The danger is never in the eyes but in the heart that assigns worth to what it looks upon, for nothing has power over a mind until the mind first desires it. The ego's appeal is beautiful only because a wish has dressed it so, and the wish is made in secret, before any glance is caught. What captures a mind is not the image outside but the value it has already granted within.
So the freedom offered here is the freedom to withdraw that value, to see that the pull was placed there by the one who feels it. A mind that stops feeding the illusion finds it has no hold, because it was never fed from without. The eyelids cannot take what the heart no longer gives.
Beauty: the appeal the ego wears, worth that seems to shine from outside but is placed there by the mind's own secret wish. Eyelids: the seeming power of the illusion to capture and hold, which reaches only as far as the desire that first invited it.

ESOTERIC
The strange woman is the emotional lower mind, and lusting after her beauty in the heart is the center of consciousness being drawn down into feeling's pull, spiritual adultery in which awareness leaves its higher marriage for the surface glamour of the lower field. The heart named here is not the pump of blood but the seat of awareness itself, the place where a person can be captured or kept.
Being taken with her eyelids is the fluttering lure of appearances closing the inner sight, awareness caught by what shimmers on the surface. When the center of consciousness stays with the higher mind, the lower emotion cannot pull it down into its glamour.
Strange woman: the emotional lower mind, the pull of feeling that draws awareness down from its height Heart: the center of consciousness, the seat of awareness rather than the physical pump Eyelids: the fluttering lure of surface appearances that closes the inner sight

BUDDHISM
Indriyasaṃvara: Restraint at the sense doors A watch kept at eye and ear. The warning lands before any deed, at the moment of looking, since an open door is where trouble walks in. A young man who can turn his glance from the neighbor's wife has done most of the work already; one who lingers at the gate lets the rest be decided for him.
Anubyañjana: The small detail seized on The particular feature the eye picks out of a whole form. Eyelids are a fragment, and desire prefers fragments: a flutter of the lids, around which the mind builds an entire story. Noticing that the hook is this small, one feature standing in for a person, already loosens its pull.
Ayoniso manasikāra: Unwise attention The way of dwelling on something that feeds it. Lusting in the heart is exactly this dwelling: the sight is gone from the street, yet kept warm inside and rehearsed until it grows heavy. Nothing has happened outdoors, and the whole affair is well underway indoors.
Kāmacchanda: Sensual desire Wanting aimed at what pleases the senses. It burns inwardly first, long before a man scoops fire into his lap and wonders why his clothes catch. Heat felt in the heart is the same heat that later scorches a household, only smaller and far easier to set down.
Saṃyojana: Fetter The tie that binds a mind to what it wants. Being captivated is a captivity he knots himself: two oxen joined by one yoke, where neither animal binds the other and the harness does all the holding. Her eyelids hold no rope, so the wanting that serves as harness is also the thing he can unfasten.
Asubha: The body's unloveliness Attention to the body as it plainly is. Beauty is the thin outer layer of skin, stretched over the same bones and fluids he carries around in himself. Keeping that in view while looking cools the heart on the spot, with no need to hate her or bolt from the street.

SELF-HELP
A wanting that feels overwhelming was built one lingering look at a time, and it can be starved the same way.
Nothing arrives at full size. A look sends supply to whatever it lands on, the thing enlarges, the enlargement manufactures feeling, and the feeling hardens into a certainty that this is needed, so by the time a man believes he is choosing, the choosing was done weeks earlier by where he let his eyes rest.
Captivity by a pair of eyelids sounds absurd until the arithmetic is laid out, since nobody is taken by one glance, only by the hundredth return to it. Guarding the heart is cheap and guarding the act is ruinously expensive, because the act is the last link and every link before it has already been paid for. Waiting that long means handing willpower a job that attention could have done for almost nothing, and willpower loses that job most nights.
Christian Psychology lens
What have I been giving my value to, without ever choosing to?
The object does not grab you, your clinging reaches out and takes hold. Loosen the grip and the object was never a problem.
Things themselves have no power over you. It is the value you have assigned to them, and that assignment is yours to revise.
Attachment is born in the mind before anything is ever reached for. Watch the wanting rise and the chain is broken at the first link.
