Proverbs 9:9 Meaning Instruct a Wise Person

Instruct a wise person, and he will be still wiser. Teach a righteous person, and he will increase in learning.

What does Proverbs 9:9 mean?

Learning here is not the gathering of facts but the deepening of a single choice already made. A mind that has accepted the teacher of love finds that every lesson confirms and extends what it has begun, because it meets each one without the fear that shuts understanding down.

Christian Psychology

Learning here is not the gathering of facts but the deepening of a single choice already made. A mind that has accepted the teacher of love finds that every lesson confirms and extends what it has begun, because it meets each one without the fear that shuts understanding down.

There is no ceiling to this, for what love teaches is that the mind was never limited to begin with. So the wise grow wiser not by acquiring something new but by remembering more fully what they are, and each truth received opens the door to the next.

Wise man: the mind that has already chosen the teacher of love, so that every lesson deepens the choice instead of threatening it Just man: the mind that sees itself and others as innocent, and therefore keeps growing in all that love has to show

Live Proverbs 9:9 today

  1. Reread something today that already changed you once, a note, a passage, a saved message. See what is in it now that was not there the first time.
  2. Ask someone to teach you the thing they are good at, even a small thing, and actually let them. Being the beginner in the room is its own kind of growth.
  3. When you hit the part of the work you are bad at, stay thirty seconds longer than the urge to switch tabs. That is where the learning happens, not in the parts you already have.

Where am I treating a beginning as if it were the whole thing?
