Psalms 18:10 Meaning He Rode on a Cherub

He rode on a cherub, and flew. Yes, he soared on the wings of the wind.

What does Psalms 18:10 mean?

The cherub is the cerebrum, and higher awareness rides upon it, moving through the great vaulted brain as a rider moves upon a mount. To fly upon the wings of the wind is consciousness carried by the spirit, the moving air within that lifts awareness above its ordinary ground.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The cherub is the cerebrum, and higher awareness rides upon it, moving through the great vaulted brain as a rider moves upon a mount. To fly upon the wings of the wind is consciousness carried by the spirit, the moving air within that lifts awareness above its ordinary ground. The flight is not through outer sky but across the inner brain, the ruling faculty traveling the folds and currents of one's own head. What reads as a deity soaring over the world is the center of a person moving upon the cerebrum, borne on the breath of spirit inside them.

Cherub: the cerebrum, the great brain ridden by higher awareness. Wind: the spirit, the inner current that lifts and carries consciousness.

  1. Before you unlock your phone in the morning, take three slow breaths with your eyes still closed. Let your attention ride on the breath for a moment instead of being dragged along by the first notification.
  2. During a conversation where you feel yourself getting wound up, breathe out longer than you breathe in, just once, before answering. The other person will hear a different voice and so will you.
  3. Stuck in traffic or a grocery line, drop your shoulders and let the breath go all the way down. The same jam, a different rider.

What changes in your thinking when you let the breath carry it instead of forcing it?

The same truth in other traditions

Hinduism · Yoga tradition

Breath and mind move together, and whoever steadies the breath steadies the mind. The air you draw in is the vehicle awareness rides.

Taoism · Chuang Tzu

The sage lets the mind ride on the breath of things rather than pushing it. Carried, not driven, it goes everywhere without strain.

Buddhism · Anapanasati

Awareness settles when it is placed on the incoming and outgoing breath. The breath becomes the mount, and the whole of thought grows light.
