Psalms 37:6 Meaning He Will Make Your Righteousness Shine Out

he will make your righteousness shine out like light, and your justice as the noon day sun.

What does Psalms 37:6 mean?

The heart that does right in the shadows often aches to be seen, and that hunger to be noticed is the quiet fault, the wish to display a goodness that only counts when done for its own sake. The cure is to keep doing right where no one watches and leave the shining to another hand.

The heart that does right in the shadows often aches to be seen, and that hunger to be noticed is the quiet fault, the wish to display a goodness that only counts when done for its own sake. The cure is to keep doing right where no one watches and leave the shining to another hand.

And the promise holds: what was hidden will be brought out like light, made plain as the noon sun. A person does not have to polish their own name, for God is present as the one who reveals, waiting to bring into the open, in time, whatever was kept honestly in the dark.

Live Psalms 37:6 today

  1. Do the good thing today and delete the draft of the post about it. Let it stay between you and whoever it was for.
  2. If someone else gets the credit for your work in a meeting or an email thread, let it pass once. You can correct a record later without needing the room's eyes right now.
  3. When the wish to be seen gets loud, keep going with the unseen version of the task. The hidden work is not wasted work.

If my name were never attached to it, would I still do this as well?

Standing on tiptoe to be seen is no way to stand for long. What is genuinely there does not need lifting into view.

Do the good and be done with it, the way a vine makes grapes without asking anyone to look.
