Psalms 50:23 Meaning Whoever Offers the Sacrifice of Thanksgiving Glorifies

Whoever offers the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifies me, and prepares his way so that I will show God’s salvation to him.

What does Psalms 50:23 mean?

The conversation that must be ordered aright is not your speech with other people. It is the talking you carry on within, the endless inner speech that runs beneath the day, and this is the gift through which your world is shaped.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The conversation that must be ordered aright is not your speech with other people. It is the talking you carry on within, the endless inner speech that runs beneath the day, and this is the gift through which your world is shaped. What a person keeps saying to himself, the tone he takes and the scenes he rehearses, sets the pattern that later appears around him. This inner talk is the offering, and it is heard.

To order it aright is to hold conversations that assume the wish already granted, spoken from the end as though it were done. Praise glorifies because a mind dwelling in gratitude has already accepted the state it wants. The salvation of God is shown to the one whose inner speech matches the life he desires. When the conversation a person carries within changes, the forms in his world change with it.

Live Psalms 50:23 today

  1. On your commute, listen to what you are saying to yourself, then rewrite one sentence of it so it sounds like someone whose wish already came true. Keep saying the new one.
  2. Before you answer in a group chat, ask what mood your reply carries. Send the one you would want to live inside for the rest of the day.
  3. When a meeting goes sideways, catch the inner muttering and swap it for quiet thanks for something already good. The outer conversation follows the inner one more often than you think.

What am I telling myself all day long, and would I want to live in the world that talk is building?

Dhammapada 1

We are shaped by our thoughts, and we become what we keep thinking. The mind rehearsing a thing is already building the life that follows it.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

Your life takes the color of your thoughts. Guard the running commentary inside you, because it dyes everything you will later call your world.

Zen

The mind is the painter of your days. Change what it paints and the scenery around you changes with it.
