Revelation 1:14 · World English Bible
His head and his hair were white as white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire.
The figure standing among the lampstands is the awakened self seen from the inside of the skull, where the whitened head is the crown center burning clean of the dye of desire. White is the color of light before it splits into the wants and fears that tint a life, so the hairs of pure snow show a mind emptied of its old colorations, thought no longer stained by appetite.

ESOTERIC
The figure standing among the lampstands is the awakened self seen from the inside of the skull, where the whitened head is the crown center burning clean of the dye of desire. White is the color of light before it splits into the wants and fears that tint a life, so the hairs of pure snow show a mind emptied of its old colorations, thought no longer stained by appetite.
The eyes as flame are the 2 lights of the face turned into a single fire that reads through appearance to essence, the way heat passes through what light only lands on. Consciousness raised to this pitch does not look at things, it burns into their meaning, and what is false cannot stand under that gaze.
Head: the crown center at the top of the skull where consciousness rises to its highest point White wool and snow: the colorless purity of a mind cleared of appetite, thought before desire tints it Eyes as flame of fire: the sight of the awakened self that burns through surfaces into the meaning within

What in my life looks different when I want nothing from it?
The mind of the sage is called a mirror. It does not grasp or chase, so whatever comes before it shows itself exactly as it is.
The practice is called polishing the mirror. Nothing is added to the mirror, only the dust of wanting is wiped away, and then it reflects without flattering or distorting.
He told himself to look at each thing directly and name it plainly, stripping away the story his appetites had painted on it, so he could see the bare thing and judge it rightly.
