Revelation 11:1 · World English Bible
A reed like a rod was given to me. Someone said, “Rise, and measure God’s temple, and the altar, and those who worship in it.
The reed given like a rod is the spinal column, the straight measuring cane laid up the back of the body, and the temple to be measured is the body itself, the brain and the head where the divine dwells. To measure the temple is to take the measure of the inner life force, the current running up that rod to the seat of sight in the head.

ESOTERIC
The reed given like a rod is the spinal column, the straight measuring cane laid up the back of the body, and the temple to be measured is the body itself, the brain and the head where the divine dwells. To measure the temple is to take the measure of the inner life force, the current running up that rod to the seat of sight in the head. The angel is the angle, the angle of light that stands and gives the command to rise.
The altar is the Christ within, the oil of the spine anointing the head where God is seen face to face, and the worshippers are the inner faculties all turned toward that light. What comes to pass is a person surveying the living body from the base of the spine to the crown to find the force at work in it.
Reed like a rod: the spinal column, the straight cane that measures the body from base to crown Temple: the human body, the brain and head where the divine dwells Altar: the Christ within, the oil of the spine anointing the head where God is seen Angel: the angle of light that stands and commands the rising
Esoteric lens
What am I looking for far away that is living in this body?
The teaching says the one you are looking for lives in the space within the heart, smaller than small and larger than large. The dwelling place is the body itself.
The practice of awareness of the body has you survey yourself from the soles of the feet to the crown of the head, plainly and without judgment. Looking closely at your own frame is the whole exercise.
He taught that the way is not somewhere far off; it is in the body breathing, in the ordinary working of a living thing. Looking elsewhere for it is the mistake.
