Revelation 14:14 Meaning I Looked

I looked, and saw a white cloud, and on the cloud one sitting like a son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

What does Revelation 14:14 mean?

The awakened self rises above the fog of ordinary thought and takes its seat there, no longer tossed by the moods below but resting on the white stillness of a purified mind. The golden crown is the illumined crown of the head, the highest center lit and reigning, spirit ruling from the top of the body it once served.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The awakened self rises above the fog of ordinary thought and takes its seat there, no longer tossed by the moods below but resting on the white stillness of a purified mind. The golden crown is the illumined crown of the head, the highest center lit and reigning, spirit ruling from the top of the body it once served. The sharp sickle is discernment brought to an edge, the faculty that separates the ripe from the rotten within a person. What is grown and gathered here is not a field outside but the harvest of one's own thoughts, cut clean when the inner man has come to full height.

White cloud: the cleared, luminous field of mind lifted above the darker vapors of feeling and habit. Son of man: the fully awakened human self, the divine consciousness seated at last in a person. Golden crown: the illumined crown center at the top of the head, spirit reigning from the highest point of the body. Sharp sickle: the cutting edge of discernment that reaps the ripened states and severs them from the withered.

Live Revelation 14:14 today

  1. Sit for two minutes before you open your phone and let the mood you woke up with be weather rather than news about your life. Then decide what you will actually do with the hour, from the quieter place, not from the mood.
  2. In your next conversation, listen for the feeling rising in you and let it pass without putting it in your voice. Reply from the calm underneath, and watch what that does to the other person.
  3. When a day starts going wrong, name one thought as ripe and worth keeping and one as rotten and worth dropping. Drop it the way you would drop a bad apple, without a speech about it.

What have I been letting rule me from below that I could be seeing clearly from above?

Zen

Clouds pass across the sky and the sky is not moved. Thoughts and moods pass through awareness, and awareness is not any of them.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

You have a ruling part in you that can stand apart and judge clearly while the body is shaken. Retreat to it, and nothing that happens can take your reason with it.

Buddhism · right discernment

Wisdom is a blade. Learning to see which states of mind are wholesome and which are rotting is the whole work, and you cut nothing outside yourself.
