Revelation 20:8 · World English Bible

Revelation 20:8 Meaning And He Will Come Out to Deceive

and he will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

What does Revelation 20:8 mean?

Doubt goes out to deceive the whole lower mind and muster it for war against the higher self. The 4 quarters are the 4 natures of a person centered on the self, the emotional, the spiritual, the physical, and the intellectual, and to deceive the nations in those quarters is for doubt to invade all 4 and turn them against the awakened center.

Gog and Magog are the massed material mind, the sheer weight of earthbound thinking rallied to overwhelm what has begun to rise. Their number like the sand of the sea is the endlessness of such thoughts, uncountable grains at the edge of the emotional deep, always more where the last came from. This is what a person faces when the material mind gathers in full against the higher life waking inside.

Live Revelation 20:8 today

  1. When your mind starts stacking up reasons something will go wrong, count the thoughts instead of answering them. Ten of them in a row tells you more about the stream than about your life.
  2. In a group chat or a meeting where worry starts spreading, be the one who asks what we actually know right now. Doubt grows loud by numbers, and one plain question thins it out.
  3. Under real pressure, write down the single next thing you can do and do only that. The crowd of what-ifs cannot follow you into one concrete action.

When your thoughts come at you by the thousand, do you argue with them or just watch them pass?

The same truth in other traditions

Buddhism, Dhammapada

It is not an outside enemy that undoes you but your own untrained thinking. The sheer volume of it is the weapon; there is always another thought behind the last one.

Stoicism · Marcus Aurelius

If something outside distresses you, the pain is not the thing but your judgment of it, and that you can revoke. Take away the judgment and the army thins out.

Taoism, Zhuangzi

He says the still mind is a mirror: it reflects what comes and does not chase it. The endless stream quiets by being watched, not by being argued with.
