Revelation 22:8 Meaning Now I

Now I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. When I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who had shown me these things.

What does Revelation 22:8 mean?

The seeing and hearing belong to the awakened faculties of the inner man, the eye and ear of consciousness opened at the close of the whole vision. To fall at the feet of the messenger is the lower self bowing down before its own higher intelligence, mistaking the light within for something above and outside to be adored.

The seeing and hearing belong to the awakened faculties of the inner man, the eye and ear of consciousness opened at the close of the whole vision. To fall at the feet of the messenger is the lower self bowing down before its own higher intelligence, mistaking the light within for something above and outside to be adored.

The feet are the base of the messenger, its point of contact with the ground of the body, the lowest reach of the higher mind where it touches the ordinary self. The bowing is the last confusion of the awakening person: it worships the guide instead of recognizing the guide as its own deeper nature.

Angel: the higher messenger intelligence within, the light of the deeper mind that unveils the vision Feet: the base of the higher mind where it touches the ground of the body, its lowest point of contact with the ordinary self

  1. If you have a teacher, author, or podcast voice you quote constantly, try going a day without checking what they would say and find out what you think. Admiration is good right up until it replaces your own judgment.
  2. When you give someone credit today for helping you, also name the part you did. Gratitude does not require making yourself small.
  3. In a meeting or a hard conversation, when you feel the urge to defer to the most confident person in the room, say your own view first anyway. Deference is sometimes humility and sometimes just hiding.
