Taṣdīq: The heart's own agreement Taṣdīq runs deeper than the head's nod. Someone can hold every correct statement about God and still keep it at arm's length, filed away like facts about a country they have never visited.

SUFISM
Taṣdīq: The heart's own agreement Taṣdīq runs deeper than the head's nod. Someone can hold every correct statement about God and still keep it at arm's length, filed away like facts about a country they have never visited. The heart's yes shows up when the arguing stops and a person rests their weight on what they had only been discussing.
God does not look at your appearance or your wealth, but at your hearts: the inside is what counts A saying of the Prophet. Behaving well on the outside is something anyone with enough self-control can manage, and it earns approval from other people. The heart's condition sits underneath all of it and decides whether the outside is honest or a performance. Goodness gets measured at a level where nothing can be arranged for show.
Shahāda: Bearing witness out loud Shahāda is testimony spoken where others can hear it. Belief kept inside costs nothing and can drift for years without ever being tested by anyone. Saying it aloud puts a person on record, with their name attached, in front of people who will remember.
Ṣidq: Being one thing all the way through Ṣidq is truthfulness running from the inside out to the words. The mouth moves faster than the heart, and a person can hear themselves claiming more than they have settled. Al-Ghazali's concern is closing that gap, so speech becomes a plain report of what is already there, with nothing to keep up.
Dhikr: Remembrance carried on the tongue Dhikr begins as words said out loud. Al-Ghazali describes it starting there and working inward, repeated until the heart takes it up and keeps it going on its own. Speaking does something back to the person speaking, and a sentence said often enough settles in and becomes theirs.

What do I say I believe that my week would not back up?
Confucius taught that the noble person is ashamed when words outrun action. Speech is only honest when the rest of the life has already caught up to it.
To study the way is to study the self, not the doctrine about it. Understanding that stays in the head has not yet become practice, and practice is where the understanding actually lives.
Do not announce your philosophy, he said. Digest it first, then let people see it in what you do, the way sheep bring wool rather than reciting what they ate.
