Sufism

One stream fills many cups, and each cup forgets the water is not its own. The fault here is the quiet pride that says my worth is mine alone, which soon curdles into envy of a neighbor's good.

The cure is small and daily: to be secretly glad at another's blessing, as if it were one's own. The same One shows Himself through every face at the table, and when one member is honored and another rejoices, the water has remembered its spring.

Live Romans 12:5 today

  1. When a friend's good news shows up on your phone today and something in you tightens, do not argue with it. Just be glad on purpose, and send one line saying so.
  2. Pick someone at work or in your family whose success you quietly compete with, and do one small thing today that helps them look good.
  3. When a group you belong to gets criticized, your team, your family, your church, resist the move of quietly stepping aside from it. Stay in it and take your share.

Whose good news do I have the hardest time being glad about?
