Romans 13:12 Meaning The Night Is Far Gone

The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let’s therefore throw off the deeds of darkness, and let’s put on the armor of light.

What does Romans 13:12 mean?

The long sleep of unconsciousness, in which you took the noise of thinking to be who you are, is thinning. A new state of consciousness is not far off.

Ego v. Being

The long sleep of unconsciousness, in which you took the noise of thinking to be who you are, is thinning. A new state of consciousness is not far off. It is at hand, closer than your next breath. So stop feeding the old patterns, the reactions and resentments and grievances that move in you while you are not looking. These are the works of darkness, and they live only while you remain absent from your own life.

To put on the armour of light is simply to become present, awake and aware in this moment. When that awareness is here, the old reactive patterns lose their grip on you, because they can only operate while you are lost in thought and not truly present.

Live Romans 13:12 today

  1. Pick one old grievance that still replays in your head, and when it starts again today, feel your breath instead of following the thought. You do not have to resolve it, just stop feeding it.
  2. When a message or a tone from someone sets off the usual reaction, put the phone down for sixty seconds before answering. Reply from the quiet, not from the sting.
  3. In a tense moment at work, feel your feet and your hands while it happens. The reaction needs your absence to run, and you are not absent.

Which reaction in you has been running on autopilot for years?
