Romans 2:28 · World English Bible
For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh;
Belonging is an inward condition, never a mark worn on the surface of the body. The name Jew opens as one who praises, the mind turned toward the higher within, so the true one is known by an inner orientation and not by lineage or by any visible sign.

ESOTERIC
Belonging is an inward condition, never a mark worn on the surface of the body. The name Jew opens as one who praises, the mind turned toward the higher within, so the true one is known by an inner orientation and not by lineage or by any visible sign. What can be seen on the flesh proves nothing about the state of the awareness behind it.
Circumcision cut in the body is the outer copy of a real inward act, the paring away of the coarse appetites so the finer mind stands exposed. When the sign stays only on the skin, the work has not happened. The genuine change is a quieting of the sense-driven self that leaves no visible trace, worked entirely in the unseen.
Circumcision: the inward cutting-away of coarse desire, mistaken for the mark left in the flesh. Jew: the mind that praises and turns toward the higher self within, named by its inward direction.
Esoteric lens
If every visible marker of who you are vanished tomorrow, what would be left?
The sage wears rough clothes and carries jade inside. What is real is not arranged on the surface for anyone to see.
No one becomes noble by birth, status, or outward appearance. A person is noble only by what they do and what they have become inside.
Stop debating what a good person should look like. Be one. The character is the thing, not the label.
