Romans 3:23 · World English Bible
for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;
To sin, in its root, is to miss the mark, and every part of the divided self falls short of the full light it was made to carry. The glory of God is the radiance of the whole awakened being, the crown of light around a consciousness that has come into its own.

ESOTERIC
To sin, in its root, is to miss the mark, and every part of the divided self falls short of the full light it was made to carry. The glory of God is the radiance of the whole awakened being, the crown of light around a consciousness that has come into its own. Coming short means the energy has not yet risen to that height; it stays scattered in the lower centers, spent on appetite and fear, never reaching the brilliance waiting at the top.
This is the ordinary condition of a person before the inner rising: the light is present but dimmed, held below its full measure. No one is condemned by it; it names the distance still to be crossed inside oneself between the scattered life and the lit crown.
Esoteric lens
What would you attempt if falling short were just the shape of the road rather than proof you should stop?
Everyone is already whole. Practice is not building something new, it is clearing the dust so what is already shining can be seen.
The light is covered by a golden lid. What hides the real thing is not darkness but a brightness we settle for too early.
The soul is a lamp with soot on the glass. Nothing is wrong with the flame. The work is on the covering.
