Song of Solomon 4:9 Meaning You Have Ravished My Heart
You have ravished my heart, my sister, my bride. You have ravished my heart with one of your eyes, with one chain of your neck.

Song of Solomon 4:9 · World English Bible
You have ravished my heart, my sister, my bride. You have ravished my heart with one of your eyes, with one chain of your neck.
The union sung here is inside a single person, the higher awareness wedded to the soul that is at once sister and spouse, kin to the spirit and joined to it. What overcomes the heart is one eye, not 2.

ESOTERIC
The union sung here is inside a single person, the higher awareness wedded to the soul that is at once sister and spouse, kin to the spirit and joined to it. What overcomes the heart is one eye, not 2. 2 eyes look outward and divide the world into this and that, but the single eye is inner sight gathered to one point, and when attention closes to that one center the heart is captured whole. The chain of the neck is the spinal channel that links the head to the body, the cord along which the life-current climbs. When the eye turns inward and that channel is open, the crowned awareness and the soul below become one thing, and the whole self is drawn toward its own height.
This is the marriage religion has pushed off into ceremony and afterlife, happening now in a body that has quieted its outward gaze.
Eye: single inner sight at the center of the forehead, attention gathered to one point rather than scattered outward through the 2 outer eyes. Chain of the neck: the spinal cord and channel linking head to body, the cord along which the life-current rises to join the higher awareness.

The sages say the self in you and the self in everything are one, and the one who sees that is no longer divided. The outward look splits the world in two, the inward look makes it whole.
Rumi wrote that the lover and the beloved are finally one, and that the search ends when you find the one searching. What you have been reaching for has been doing the reaching.
Zen calls it one-pointed mind, attention gathered like water into a single stream. When the whole of you is in one place, the ordinary moment opens all the way up.
