My beloved has gone down to his garden, to the beds of spices, to pasture his flock in the gardens, and to gather lilies.

Song of Solomon 6:2 · World English Bible
My beloved has gone down to his garden, to the beds of spices, to pasture his flock in the gardens, and to gather lilies.
The divine presence has gone down into the right hemisphere of the brain, the garden where God is found, to feed among the beds of spices and gather lilies. The garden is the receptive, intuitive side of the mind, the inner Eden a person enters in meditation, where consciousness is nourished by spirit rather than by the traffic of the outer world.

ESOTERIC
The divine presence has gone down into the right hemisphere of the brain, the garden where God is found, to feed among the beds of spices and gather lilies. The garden is the receptive, intuitive side of the mind, the inner Eden a person enters in meditation, where consciousness is nourished by spirit rather than by the traffic of the outer world.
The beds of spices are the burning away of fear and anger, the purification that comes before the fragrance can rise, and the lilies gathered there are peace itself, blooming in the quiet. When awareness settles into that garden it stops chasing and is fed, and the stillness it gathers is the peace the whole search was for.
Garden: the right hemisphere of the brain, the inner Eden where the divine presence is found. Beds of spices: the burning away of fear and anger, the purification of the inner life. Lilies: peace blooming in the quiet of the still mind.
Esoteric lens
When was the last time you were fed by stillness instead of by the next thing on your screen?
The mind that stops grasping becomes a still pool, and things come to it on their own. Nothing is fetched, and nothing is missing.
When the restless pull of wanting dies down, a gladness rises that no outside thing supplied. The mind is fed by its own settling.
Sit alone, steady, with the mind gathered inward, and the one who is at rest in the self finds a sweetness that the senses could never hand over.
