Isaiah 35:2 · World English Bible

Isaiah 35:2 Meaning It Will Blossom Abundantly

It will blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing. Lebanon’s glory will be given to it, the excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They will see Yahweh’s glory, the excellence of our God.

What does Isaiah 35:2 mean?

The barren ground that blossoms is the right hemisphere of the mind coming into bloom through meditation, the still garden of the being brought into full flower. This renewal is creative life happening now, in the living person, not a reward held back for some distant afterlife.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The barren ground that blossoms is the right hemisphere of the mind coming into bloom through meditation, the still garden of the being brought into full flower. This renewal is creative life happening now, in the living person, not a reward held back for some distant afterlife.

The glory of Lebanon is the whiteness that comes with that awakening, and Sharon is the level plain of the lower mind made ready and even. To see the glory of God is to watch the desert side of the self grow fruitful here, in this life, and to return here again rather than to a far-off heaven, the mind flowering as the medicine of stillness does its work.

Lebanon: the whiteness that shines when the higher mind awakens Sharon: the level plain of the lower mind, smoothed and made ready The garden: the right hemisphere of the brain that blossoms under meditation

AWARENESS

Indian Guru

The desert is your own dryness, the life that feels used up, and it is exactly that place which flowers. The same sand that held nothing begins to carry cedar and blossom, because barrenness was a condition of attention rather than of soil.

A flower does not open to achieve something later; the opening is already the celebration, and joy in a human being works the same way, arising the moment the mind stops postponing life into tomorrow. Then whatever is seen is seen as glory, including the ordinary road you were already walking.

Live Isaiah 35:2 today

  1. Sit still for ten minutes today with no audio, no screen, nothing to finish. Not to get good at it. Just let the quiet do its slow work on you.
  2. Tell one person today something good that is happening in your life right now, out loud, in the present tense. Most of us only share good news as a plan or a memory.
  3. Next time the day goes sideways, a canceled flight, a bad email, a long line, catch the thought "this will be worth it later" and ask what is actually alive in you in this very hour. Answer with one honest thing.

What are you postponing your own life until, and what if the flowering is meant for this week?

Zen

The old teachers insist awakening is not a wage paid out later. The plum branch flowers in this cold, on this morning, or the talk of flowering means nothing.

Bhagavad Gita

The field and the one who knows the field are both here, in this body, now. What you are looking for is not stored somewhere else awaiting delivery.
