John 1:2 Meaning The Same Was in the Beginning

The same was in the beginning with God.

What does John 1:2 mean?

The repetition is not idle; it insists on a togetherness the mind is desperate to doubt. What the mind truly is has been with its Source from the start, not sent out, not fallen, not standing at a distance to be earned back.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The repetition is not idle; it insists on a togetherness the mind is desperate to doubt. What the mind truly is has been with its Source from the start, not sent out, not fallen, not standing at a distance to be earned back. Every fear of abandonment is answered by this quiet fact, that the beginning itself was companionship and never solitude.

So a mind that feels alone is remembering wrongly, laying a dream of separation over a union that was there before all dreaming. The correction is simply to hear the truth restated until it is believed: the self was with God in the beginning, and being with God has never once been interrupted.

The same: the mind's true self, the one creating thought that has stood with its Source from the first and stands there still.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

Before anything took form, before the first thought arose or the first object appeared, there was already awareness. Not the busy mind you know, but a still and formless consciousness that simply is, prior to time itself.

This is what stood in the beginning with the source of all things, because it was never separate from that source. And it has not gone anywhere. That same awareness is the presence looking out through your eyes at this moment. You do not find it by reaching back to the beginning, but by becoming still now, because that consciousness is what you already are beneath your thoughts.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The same is the Word, and the Word is the awareness of being, present at every beginning because it is the beginning. It stands with God because it is not separate from God. The awareness looking out of you now is the agent that expresses himself as all things. Whatever starts, starts here, in the sense of being that says I am before it says what it is. The beginning is never behind you. It is the point in consciousness where you assume.

Every new state a person enters begins the same way, with awareness present at its birth, holding it as so. Nothing enters a life that did not first stand with the I AM as an accepted fact. To be in the beginning with God is to be the awareness that decides what shall be, at the moment it decides. That awareness is your own, and it has been from the first.

Live John 1:2 today

  1. When you wake and reach for your phone, stay still for one breath first and let yourself feel that nothing has to be earned back this morning. You are not starting the day at a deficit.
  2. Text or call someone you have been quietly sure has drifted from you, and say something ordinary and warm. Most distance between people is a story, not a fact.
  3. In the meeting or the email thread where you feel suddenly on the outside, put a hand flat on the desk and remember the loneliness is a reading of the room, not the truth of who you are.

Where in your day do you feel most alone, and what if that feeling is simply a misremembering?

The same truth in other traditions

Upanishads

The self within you and the ground of all being were never two things that had to find each other. Realizing this is not a journey across distance, it is the ending of a mistaken idea about distance.

Sufism · Rumi

The reed cries because it believes it was cut from the reed bed, yet the longing itself is proof of a belonging that was never broken.

Zen

You are already standing in the water you are looking for. Searching is the only thing that makes it seem far away.
