John 10:1 · World English Bible

John 10:1 Meaning Most Certainly

Most certainly, I tell you, one who doesn’t enter by the door into the sheep fold, but climbs up some other way, is a thief and a robber.

What does John 10:1 mean?

There is one honest way into the mind, and it is love, which asks nothing and takes nothing because it already gives everything. The ego arrives by another route.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

There is one honest way into the mind, and it is love, which asks nothing and takes nothing because it already gives everything. The ego arrives by another route. It cannot come through the open door because it has nothing true to bring, so it climbs in over the wall by stealth, offering safety while it means to plunder. What it steals is peace, and it does this by teaching a mind to guard itself against its own brothers.

A mind learns to know the difference by what a thought comes to take. The teacher that enters gently, wanting only to give, is love. The one that scales the wall in the dark, promising to protect what it plans to rob, is fear pretending to be a friend.

Door: the single honest entrance to the mind, the way of love that gives instead of takes Sheepfold: the quiet enclosure of the mind, the thoughts a person keeps and shelters as their own Thief and robber: the ego's approach by stealth, the belief in separation that promises safety while it steals peace

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The door is I AM, the awareness of being, and every state a person enters must be entered through it. To go in by the door is to assume the wish as an inward fact of self, to say I am that and pass into the state by consciousness. To climb up another way is to grasp at the thing through effort, struggle, or outer scheming while never claiming it as already your own being.

Whatever is seized by that other route is held as a thief holds it, insecurely, because it was never entered by the one gate that makes a state your own. The kingdom is one's own consciousness. It opens only from within. A person owns what he becomes in awareness, and everything reached by any other means slips from him.

Live John 10:1 today

  1. When a thought shows up promising to keep you safe if you just stay guarded with someone, ask what it is actually asking you to give up.
  2. With one person you have quietly built a wall against, drop a little of it today, a real question, a normal tone, nothing dramatic.
  3. When a push notification or a headline hooks you with alarm, name what it wants from you, your attention, your money, your suspicion of other people, and put the phone down.

What have I let in because it promised to protect me, and what has it been taking?
