John 14:12 Meaning Most Certainly I Tell You

Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.

What does John 14:12 mean?

The healing that flows through one awakened mind is not the possession of that mind alone. Every mind that trusts the teacher of love becomes a channel for the same correction, and because love knows no limit, what it accomplishes through the many surpasses what it seemed to do through one.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The healing that flows through one awakened mind is not the possession of that mind alone. Every mind that trusts the teacher of love becomes a channel for the same correction, and because love knows no limit, what it accomplishes through the many surpasses what it seemed to do through one. The miracle belongs to no special person.

The going to the Father is the very reason the works increase. As the mind that first remembered returns fully to its Source, it withdraws the sense of a separate doer, and love is freed to extend through all who receive it. What heals is never the person but the love that passes through.

Father: the Source the awakened mind returns to, releasing love to work through every mind that trusts it.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

To believe on him is to trust your own imagination as the power that brings things to pass, and that trust is what lets the works appear. The one who commits fully to an assumption, holding it without a doubting fallback, does the very things that seem miraculous, because he is drawing on the same creative source. Belief is not agreement with a person; it is confidence in the act of imagining, and results follow that confidence the way the world follows a settled state.

The works grow greater as the awareness goes to the Father, which is the awareness of being turning back to its own source and recognizing itself as the cause of all. A person who has felt himself into a new state and watched it harden into fact has already done this; the next time he attempts more, and it too obeys. What you persistently imagine and accept as done, you produce. The greater work is only a fuller trust in the same power.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The promise here is that the same power alive in the awakened one is latent in anyone who trusts that inner nature, and it acts through them in the same way. Belief is not opinion but a turning of the whole self toward the higher life within, and that turning releases the identical working energy.

Going to the Father is the return of awareness to its source, and from that source the works flow outward, greater in the one who receives them because the channel widens as consciousness rises. In plain words, the deep creative power that moved through the awakened self is the same power in every person who leans into it, and it does even more as they rise toward its origin.

Father: the source and origin of consciousness to which awareness returns and from which its power flows

PSYCHOANALYSIS

Psychoanalysis

What appeared once in a single life was never meant to stop there. The promise that others will do even greater works means the thing that lived in one person is trying to keep living, and to go further, in everyone who lets it in.

This is how the divine grows. It does not stay finished in the past. It presses to be born again in each new person, and every time it takes root in someone it does a little more than it could before. The greater works are the divine center continuing its own unfinished growth through one human life after another.

CYBERNETICS

Cybernetics

A teacher tells his followers that belief in him will let them do the works he does, and greater. The pattern he set becomes a picture they can carry, and carrying it lets the same power move through them. What one person embodies, another can hold in mind and grow into.

The self grows toward its model. When a man believes fully in what has been shown to him, he stops setting himself apart from it and begins acting from it. The promise of greater works stays ahead as a promise, opened by trust rather than by strain, because the source of the works is not the follower alone.

SELF-HELP

Self-Help

Treating the best thing you have ever seen done as the maximum is the cheapest limit a person can accept.

Most people set their ceiling by inventory. They scan what has already happened, find the highest example, and quietly agree not to pass it, which makes history the fence and leaves it permanently untested. Jesus puts believing where the inventory was, relocating the limit from the record into the person holding it.

Certainty changes what a man attempts, attempting changes what he runs into, what he runs into becomes the reference that raises certainty again, and the works grow because the one going to the Father is the supply behind them. A disciple who measures by precedent spends his life imitating and never finds out what was on offer.

Live John 14:12 today

  1. Pass on something good someone did for you, to a different person entirely. You do not have to be the source of it for it to be real coming from you.
  2. Instead of fixing a friend's problem yourself, connect them to someone better placed to help. Getting out of the middle is often the most useful thing you can do.
  3. At work, hand off something you are good at and let someone else carry it, even imperfectly. It will go further through them than it ever would through you alone.

What good thing am I holding onto as mine that would travel further if I let it go through others?

The sage does not accumulate credit, and so their influence has no edge to it. What flows through many goes further than what one person holds.

Compassion is not a private possession. Passed hand to hand it grows rather than thins, like a flame lighting other lamps.

When the sense of a separate doer is set down, action becomes limitless, because nothing small is standing in its way.
