John 19:18 Meaning Where They Crucified Him

where they crucified him, and with him two others, on either side one, and Jesus in the middle.

What does John 19:18 mean?

The crucifixion is the fixing of spirit into the cross of the body, the descent of the Christ-consciousness into flesh where it is nailed to the 4 points of matter. The 2 others flanking the center are the pairs of opposites within every person, the higher and lower natures hung on either side, the thief who ascends and the thief who stays bound.

The awakened self stands in the midst as the balance point between them.

The place of the skull is the head, the seat of consciousness, and the Christ crucified in the middle is awareness poised at the center, holding the tension of the 2 opposing pulls that hang on its right and left.

2 others: the pairs of opposites in a person, the higher and lower natures crucified on either side Midst: the center of consciousness, the balance point holding the tension between the 2 extremes Cross: the body of flesh into which the spirit is fixed at its 4 points

Live John 19:18 today

  1. Write down the thing you most want today and the thing you most fear today, side by side on one page. Sit with both in view without deciding anything.
  2. In a disagreement with someone you love, make yourself say out loud the strongest version of their side before you say yours. Stand in the middle long enough to mean it.
  3. When praise and criticism both land on you in the same day, let neither one move you from how you plan to work tomorrow. The center is the part of you that is unchanged by both.

What am I being pulled toward and pulled away from right now, and can I just stand in between?

Stay even in pleasure and pain, gain and loss. The one who is not pulled apart by the pair of opposites is the one who is free.

Tao Te Ching 2

High needs low, hard needs soft, each half of a pair gives the other its meaning. The wise stand where both are visible and favor neither.
